Dear Parents Hari Om! It is in this challenging time of the pandemic, that I joined NV Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Shegaon, as the Principal. Educational Institutions, children, teachers and parents all are experiencing these challenging moments. Due to these unforeseen circumstances, changes are taking place in the entire world, in different fields. The biggest change seems to be in the educational field. We are all experiencing changes in the educational policies and the teaching – learning methods. So, the need of the hour is, for parents, teachers and Management, to think unitedly for the benefit of our children. During this lockdown, we at Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Shegaon are doing our best for the all-round development of our students. We wish to see, that these young children grow up into responsible and useful members of society.
We also wish to ensure that, their inherent qualities get expression, their talents get nurtured and their creativity is enhanced. We must realise that scoring more marks depends on the natural gift of a child, in the areas of memory, retention and recall. All the children have different capacities as they have different gifts for sports, music, painting, public speaking etc. Children appreciate noble thoughts and deeds. It is our duty to nurture these qualities in them. The Vidyalaya Management has taken appropriate steps to deal with the current situation and is made elaborate plans to ensure that the study of students is continued. For conducting online classes smoothly, fibre optic line has been laid down in Vidyalaya. To upgrade the skills of our teachers, following online training sessions have been conducted this year, for ourTeachers:-
1) Workshop on CVP by eminent educationist like Smt. Shanti Krishnamurty, Director, Chinmaya Education Cell, Coimbatore and her team.
2) Workshop on “Effective Teacher” by Counsellor and Psychologist Dr. Girishankar from Mumbai
3) Seminar by Swami Chidrupananda New Delhi on “How to make teaching more interesting”
4) Training on “Online learning and its future” by Mr.Divyalok Sharma, Senior Director, Pearson VUE. Apart from the above training, all our teachers are now upgraded with the skill of taking virtual class. We also had an online PTA Meeting, through Zoom. Like this the interaction with parents on formal and informal meetings will continue. Physical development of the child is of utmost importance, so in our online time table P.T., Art & craft, Music periods are included. We pray to our beloved Gurudev, to shower on us His Grace and Blessings, to help us educate the children in the way HE wants us to do.

Infinite potential lies dormant in every human. Life’s purpose is to discover and manifest this potential.
Small ambitions and limited vision can invoke only small quantities of this potential. Expansive vision and lofty ambitions has the ability to tap it’s unfathomable levels. Great men and women have left for the world the incandescent glory of their life’s experiences to learn and draw inspiration from.
Let Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayanandaji’s life be the shining light of wisdom and inspiration in our lives. Let each member of the Shegaon Chinmaya Vidyalaya family learn Gurudev’s glories, and draw inspiration for their own noble aspirations.
I wish everyone a wonderful year of great achievement and unending invocation of Gurudev’s grace.

“The most marvelous computer is only a product of the human brain.” — Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda.
“Children are not vessels to be filled, but lamps to be lit” — Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda.
Chinmaya Vidyalaya Shegaon, like all Chinmaya Vidyalayas in the country is a School With A Difference (SWAD). By this we mean that we do not merely emphasize on academics though we are in the forefront in that field, but we also enable students to adapt to various situations in life through our Chinmaya Vision Programme (CVP) which aims at the holistic development of the individual by adopting the four-pronged programme of integrated development of the personality, inculcation of patriotism, emphasis on Indian culture along with a universal outlook on life.
Our school curriculum is framed to impart value-based education that aims at both spiritual and intellectual development of the child along with the physical and emotional. Our school is one of the leading schools in the field of academics. Students are encouraged to think creatively and originally.
Children are exposed to Indian culture and heritage right from the lower classes to higher classes by the teachers and the students. The students and teachers under the able guidance of the Vidyalaya Director Swamini Ujjwalananda perform all activities enthusiastically during such functions. They are educated about the real significance of the occasion, as explained in our scriptures.
Our children learn to see and appreciate the harmony in Creation by giving due importance to all aspects of environmental education. We are also enforcing a ban on plastic and encouraging the use of eco-friendly bags, pouches, plates, glasses etc. It is our vision to impart education through a mixture of Science and Spirituality.
SCHOOL MOTTO
“The Vidyalaya motto is ‘Keep Smiling’ and it means: Be brave and courageous, face every experience in life with a smile on your face.
In other words, be balanced in life under all circumstances – joy or sorrow, success or failure, honour or dishonour, prosperity or adversity. This calmness of the mind expresses itself in a smile. “
MISSION
Chinmaya Vidyalaya Shegaon, a Secondary School affiliated to the CBSE, is managed by Chinmaya Mission Educational and Cultural Trust, Shegaon. It was started to perpetuate the ideals of its founder H.H. Swami Chinmayananda and his vision of “catching them young”. The curriculum is supplemented with Chinmaya Vision Programme which focuses on, four aspects namely Integrated Development, Indian Culture, Patriotism and Universal Outlook. Through this the child is trained to imbibe value-based education that aims at both Spiritual and Intellectual Development along with the physical and emotional.
THE LOGO
The Chinmaya Vidyalaya has as its Logo, the lamp and the ‘Hamsa’ bird. In the light of the Scriptures (represented by the lamp) the discriminative power of the human intellect is to be developed (represented by the Hamsa bird). Vedic tradition describes Hamsa as a bird that can drink milk alone from a solution of milk and water. The human intellect with its discriminative power must be able to discriminate between spirit and matters and must come to enjoy the Spiritual Essence in the world of names and forms. Thus the emblem indicates that the function of the Mission is to help people in developing ethical values and cultivating in them a discriminative intellect.
NV Chinmaya Vidyalaya is a co-educational institution providing academics from grade 1to 10, The medium of instruction is English with the teacher student ratio 1:20.

Education with a Rich Indian Flavour Comes to Shegaon.
The evolution from a small town to a big city happens with the advent of quality education. Even a commercially prosperous town like Shegaon & Khamgoan has still very few options for quality education that is on par with the best in the country. And then, that scenario changed with a series of events that was set off several years back.
The Bhattad family who own Shegaon’s Kesar Textiles have been looking for a credible educational institution for their family’s children for a decade now. Shri Rameshchandra Bhattad could not find such an option near Shegaon for his children and later for his grandchildren close. However, he did see his extended family attending the Chinmaya Vidyalaya in India as well as in America. He was impressed with the quality of education and the consistency with which Indian culture was merged with the education across countries. In the year 2013 a few conversations with Swami Tejomayananda, the Head of Chinmaya Mission Worldwide, and Swamini Vimalananda, the Ex-Director of the Chinmaya Education Cell, led to a proposed initiative to bring a Chinmaya Vidyalaya to Shegaon. On July 3rd 2014, the Chinmaya Vidyalaya was inaugurated in the Bhattad compound. In the meanwhile, construction of the main school building commenced on the land donated by the Bhattad family at Kanarkhed, strategically located to cater to the children of Shegaon and Khamgaon. Phase 1 & 2 of the construction is compleated with 25,000 Sq.feet .
The Chinmaya Vidyalayas provide high quality CBSE education with their own unique approach. The Four-Pillar vision of the Chinmaya Vidyalayas—Integrated Development, Indian Culture, Patriotism, and Universal Outlook—provide a blend of quality education and global alignment grounded in Indian values. With refreshing concepts and practices that teach the little ones in a powerful cross-discipline manner, the Chinmaya Vidyalayas have a rich history of enabling education across the world.
The Shegaon school building at Kanarkhed is being designed in line with the BaLa (Building As Learning Aid) model that approaches education right from the architectural level. Educational shapes and concepts are incorporated into the design of the landscape and the building itself to ensure that the environment enables education at all levels. The school is being designed and constructed with a long-term vision to provide one of the best educational experiences in the region without compromising on the quality and vision of the Chinmaya Vidyalaya brand.
The school currently caters upto std.10. In the year 2019 the 1st batch of class X appeared CBSE board exams and as expected, it was a 100% result. The highest marks scored by a student of Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Shegaon was 97 %. The Vidyalaya currently got CBSE affiliation for secondary leve+l. The first batch of grade 10 is appearing for their board exams in March 2019.
“Don’t just invest on the child, also invest in the child”
‘Investment on ‘ gives outer prosperity.
‘Investment in’ ensures inner unfoldment and lasting prosperity.
True education is ‘investment on’ complemented with ‘investment in’ the child.
Genesis:
The Chinmaya Education movement is one of the most important contributions of Chinmaya Mission to society. It encompasses 88 Vidyalayas, 8 Colleges, a Harihar School and an International Residential School. These institutions are governed by the CCMT Education Cell and are built on the foundation of Chinmaya Vision Programme. Why should a Sanyasi start an education movement? Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda was a visionary. He knew that children are the cream of our generation and are the rulers and makers of tomorrow. Upon them, depends the future of our nation. He said, “I am sure that the Chinmaya Education Movement will serve as a spiritual workshop to mould and march-out the new generation of men and women, who will grow to have great moral stature and ethical beauty.”
This strong foundation for the future of India had its humble beginnings at Kollengode, Kerala, way back in 1967 with a nursery school. Since then many lamps have been lit, and many hearts have been kindled….
In about 50 years, over a million students have graduated from the Chinmaya Education Institutions. Presently, more than one lakh students are studying in them. They are guided by a dedicated team of over 6,000 faculties and are ably supported by about 1200 administrative staff. Every year, more than 15,000 children join the institutions and about the same number pass out as young men and women of high character and integrity. This vast network of the Chinmaya Educational Movement thus, significantly nourishes the global Chinmaya Family and the society at large.
The Chinmaya Educational Institutions are affiliated to universities and international (International Baccalaureate – IB), central (CBSE, ICSE etc) or state Boards of Education guaranteeing high quality education.
Schools in the rural areas cater to the needs of the local people.
These institutions are headed by inspired Principals/Head Masters, dedicated teachers, supportive management and co-operative parents. Co-curricular and extra-curricular activities form an essential part of the learning process. Needless to say, these quality institutions toppers in various fields.
The Chinmaya Vidyalayas are truly “schools with a difference”.
“Children are not vessels to be filled but lamps to be lit.”
Education is not only a load of information but also the light of transformation.
Goal Of Education:
Our Chinmaya Vidyalaya are determined to achieve the three-fold noble goal of education: Vision, Spirit of service and Efficiency.
– Swami Tejomayanandaji
कटिबध्दा वयं चात्र लक्ष्ये साधयितुं वरम्।
शिक्षायास्त्रिविधं यद्वै ग्यानं सेवा च कौशलम्।।
Aims and Objectives:
– To offer children a value-based and holistic education which paves the way for the Integrated Development of the physical, mental, intellectual and spiritual aspect of the personality, enriched by knowledge of Indian Culture, a feeling of Patriotism and a Universal Outlook.
– To mould children into young men and women of moral strength who can face the challenges of modern life with a smile and make a difference in the world by their positive contribution.
– To give a practical and judicious combination of academic excellence, extra-curricular pursuits, character building and personality development.
With the objective to give a practical and judicious combination of academic excellence, co-scholastic pursuits, character building and personality development – our teaching methodology is dynamic in nature, that help the children to acquire insight of their ever expanding knowledge and practical experiences, thus enhancing their intra & inter personal skills and team work.
Project approach to consolidate the concepts through real life experience is an integral part of the teaching. Here, the teacher becomes a facilitator and children learn by experience and discovery.
Our methodology encourages students to be active learners promoting conceptual understanding & reflective practices. We are of a belief that education is more about application than just information.
Teaching Faculty:
Bricks and mortar do not make a school. Of the many things that give an educational institution its soul, perhaps the most important is the faculty.
N.V. Chinmaya Vidyalaya imparts holistic education that is aimed at bringing out the best in our pupils, for this teachers play a pivotal role in the development of the institution. The success of a school depends to a great extent on the efficiency of the teachers. It is the teachers who transact the curriculum and carry on the policies of the management with efficacy.
Continuous Training Programme:
Our Strength, to keep the Quality of education in Check. The responsibility of the school is not only to educate the children of the school but also the teachers and the parents.
Teachers Training:
Summer vacations – One Month Training.
Midterm vacations – One Week Training.
Coimbatore (main education cell) – Twice a year in May and December.
The teachers, therefore, teach, inspire and rouse our students, both inside and beyond the classrooms.
The Chinmaya Vision Programme is what makes the Chinmaya Education Institutions ‘Schools with a Difference’. It concretises Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayanandaji’s vision of education.
If man’s vision is narrow and disturbed, the world also seems filled with strife. If the vision is broad and love filled, so too is his world.
Chinmaya Vision Programme (CVP) was born to enshrine the philosophy of education developed by Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayanandaji in the heart of every growing child to bring out the best in him/her. CVP is a comprehensive educational programme for schools which integrates the best in our culture and philosophy of education. It aims at giving children a true vision of life to help them face challenges in a positive and dynamic manner and heartily contribute to society. The child is the focal point of this programme. The programme also embraces the school management, teachers and parents. Through them, the light of this vision spreads to the society, country, and the world at large.
Why the name Chinmaya Vision Programme?:
Chinmaya: The inspiration and grace of Swami Chinmayananda, the founder of the Chinmaya Mission has manifested in CVP. Chinmaya also means knowledge and the program is a knowledge based and provides holistic education at all levels.
Vision: As our vision so the world appears to us. A narrow vision is divisive. A broad vision is expansive. CVP is a vision expanding program. Starting from self development it helps to create a well knit family, a cohesive society, a strong country and a peaceful world.
Programme: CVP is not just theoretical; not an idealistic vision but it is a concrete and proven programme with practical implementation strategies followed by all the Chinmaya Education Institutions. CVP is value education plus value based education. It is not time bound but an ongoing attitude based program. CVP integrates all into a harmonious whole.
The Chinmaya Vision Programme had its formal beginning in June 1996 when it was introduced in Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Coimbatore on the occasion of its Silver Jubilee.
The Chinmaya Vision Programme is identified under four heads.
I. INTEGRATED DEVELOPMENT
It aims at the overall unfoldment and gentle blossoming of the student at the physical, mental, intellectual and spiritual levels of his/her personality.
a) PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT
It implies good health and proper growth of students leading to the optimum expression of their overall well-being. It includes physical fitness, nutrition, hygiene, personal grooming, health education, health assessment, prevention of diseases and their treatment.
b) MENTAL DEVELOPMENT
It aims at making the student an emotionally balanced person. It thereby helps him/her to live in harmony with himself/herself and the world. It includes emotional expansion, handling emotions, handling relationships, gender specific education, mental health assessment and counselling.
c) INTELLECTUAL DEVELOPMENT
Man has infinite intellectual potential. Under this head, CVP helps the student manifest his/her inherent intellectual capacities and enhance existing ones. It includes intellectual kindling, independent thinking, management skills, aesthetics, creativity, intellectual assessment and guidance.
d) SPIRITUAL DEVELOPMENT
Man is potentially divine. Spiritual Development enables the child to discover his/her inherent divinity and manifest it. It is achieved through value education, value based education, philosophy, introspection, meditation techniques, yoga etc.
II. INDIAN CULTURE
Culture is more than just art forms, festivals and rituals. Culture is the very way of life of a race and its thinking, which makes it unique and special. Under this head, the student is given a wide exposure to the various aspects of our culture, cultural awareness and appreciation of the vast literacy, artistic and scientific heritage of India, explanations of customs and traditions, symbolism, celebration of festivals and cultural motivation through hobbies and projects.
III. PATRIOTISM
This vital area of focus includes education in citizenship, civic consciousness, fostering pride in being Indian and vital national concerns such as unity in diversity and correct understanding of secularism. It aims at creating dedicated and committed citizens who take real pride in serving the nation.
IV. UNIVERSAL OUTLOOK
Universal Outlook creates an appreciation, sensitivity and commitment to universal issues like global warming, population and poverty. After years of mindless pillage of nature, the world needs to come back to a universal holistic view of life. A universal outlook helps the student view himself/herself as a responsible citizen of world, live in harmony with creation (environmental education and the synthesis between science and religion) as well as become aware of being an intrinsic part of the macrocosm. It connects man to man and man to God – the universal force behind creation.
Chinmaya Vision Programme augments the role of teachers, parents and the management in this ennobling endeavour.
– The teacher is guided into this programme with the help of the CVP Manual, seminars and newsletters. Teachers’ assessment scales enable him/her to assess self-worth and effectiveness.
– The parent is gently drawn into the programme through Manuals, parenting workshops, student assessment, self-assessment and expert advice.
– The school management through its active participation significantly helps this programme which aims at all-round “man-making” education and not just academics at the cost of other aspects of a student’s development.
– Thus Chinmaya Vision Programme makes significant breakthrough in the character-moulding and personality development of growing children complementing academic excellence which is what true education is all about.
CVP is not an activity but a vision-inducing programme – the very spirit behind all activities in the Vidyalaya. It is not a ‘value add’, but the Vidyalaya culture. It is not portion-based, but attitude-based. CVP is Value Education and Value-based Education.
“Do not just invest on the child, also invest in the child .”
Believing in the philosophy of His Holiness Swami Chinmayananda, the spiritual leader and founder of the Chinmaya Mission and Chinmaya Vidyalaya, I am pleased to introduce myself and welcome you to this temple of learning.
I believe that education is key component that will provide the foundation for tomorrow, for that I look forward to working collaboratively with teachers, staff and parents, preparing our students to become good human beings with high moral values who will lead, innovate and open new avenues of life with their global outlook.
For us every child is unique, we identify the hidden talent of each child by applying various teaching methodology, nurture it and channelize their energy and potential in a right direction. N.V. Chinmaya Vidyalaya provides a warm, caring, stimulating and challenging environment in which our students learn and develop.
In Vidyalaya, there is a strong ethos of parental involvement; we recognize the need for open communication between the school and the home. It is only when teachers, students, parents and other members of the community work in partnership that a child can grow into an adult who displays sensitivity, integrity, good citizenship and respect for human diversity.
We believe that education is not about mere imparting knowledge but more about opening the child’s mind to self expression. We aim to provide an education which explores and strengthens the potential which is innate in every individual but awaiting expression. Emphasis is thus placed on promoting personal achievement, building a sense of responsibility and ultimately securing a strong sense of Self.
